“Media manager’s browse button does not work” has been one of the frequently asked question on Joomla administration. Most of the Joomla website administrators might have experienced this strange problem at least once. There are two questions on this, why this happens and how to fix it.
Why does the browser button does not work?
The simple reason is the “Flash Uploader” is enabled! Flash uploader is a feature that the Joomla gives to facilitate multiple file upload. If the Flash uploader is enabled and is working, it will help us to upload multiple files at a stretch.
Unfortunately, Flash Uploader feature does not work as a result of incompatible flash settings by Adobe. This feature was supported in the outdated versions of Adobe Flash player. But the current versions of flash players will not allow to access local files for security reason.
Now the question arises, how to enable browse button in the media manager?
How to make the browse button work in the media manager?
If the browse button does not work in the media manager, it shows that the flash uploading feature is not supported. To enable the browse button, you need to change the settings in the global configuration.
Find the details in the picture:
- Go to the “Global Configuration” panel.
- Click on the “System” tab.
- Go to the “Media Settings” and locate the “Enable Flash Uploader” option.
- Set the value as “No”.
Disabling the flash uploader option will allow us to use the normal file uploader. But this browse button does not support multiple file upload currently.
